I liked this one more than the first book and sets up for book 3 : which looks to provide information about the underworkings of the revolts and the capital dystopia. After about 100 pages in, I couldn't put it down. Three finger salut *whistles Rue's four-note mockingjay tune* Not as good as Hunger Games. A little preachy and slow. Hoping #3 is as good as #1. Like many folks, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this sequel to the Hunger Games. If you read and liked Hunger Games, you will definitely want to get on the hold list for this book. We've added more copies to our collection, it won't take too long for your turn to come around. I don't want to say too much about it, I don't want to spoil any surprises. Diane, who is a librarian and should know better, just read the last page to see who Katniss ended up with, Peeta or Gale. Sadly for her, though, this is the second book in a series and there's no way Suzanne Collins is giving away that answer yet. I've been thinking about love triangles in books lately, and I can't think of any where there is a male character trying to decide between two girlfriends. Author Suzanne Collins delivers a sequel just as compelling as the original Hunger Games with Catching Fire. Like the first book, it is fast-paced and a compelling read. The readers learn much more about the main character Katniss Everdeen. It is a story of self-discovery as she learns how to be a leader, and not focus solely on herself. We also really get to understand her partner in the games, Peeta. There is a curious love triangle woven through the plot – where Katniss must deal with her emotions for two different boys – Peeta and Gale. no reviews | add a review

I absolutely love how creative Suzanne Collins is with her characters and the world she has created. The series has a great commentary on the idea of war and it's effects on children. I also like how she shows the way media can play in swaying individual's perceptions.
Great story and you really won't want ti put it down. (
