( )A good, but not great, addition to a wonderful series. The first half of the book is better than the latter half. I've been re-reading the entire Darkover series in publication date order. After reading Thendara House and City of Sorcery, this is -such- a let down. It reads like a very early book in the series, simplistic characters and plot, imprecise writing. It's probably my least favorite of the series. During the period of Isolation. The story of twins who escape the destruction of their family home, are lost from one another, one, Conn, going with a family retainer to hide within the local area, the other, Alastair, goes with his mother to Thendara. When they both meet again they have problems believing that the other has true worth. Not one of her best this lacks the power of others in the series but is still a compelling read. no reviews | add a review
