Hi Tony! Thanks for the friend invitation. I was a little surprised, since I'd never run across you on the Thing, but seeing as you're not a group-joiner that's not a big surprise. I'm glad to meet someone who can review "My Fair Captain" and a Charlie Chan mystery. Eclecticism rules!

See you 'round the Thing,
RMD
Hey There !!!
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but my PC had the Swine/Slime Flu and had to put it on some strong antibiotics. Anyway, I see you got "Ghost Road Blues" by Mayberry. Great writing there. Don't forget to get the follow-up books "Dead Man's Song" and "Bad Moon Rising". I just finished the last and could not put any of them down. Here's some others you might be interested in ....................
The Rage Plague by Anthony Giangregorio
Empire by David Dunwoody
Eden by Tony Monchinski
Bestial by Harold Schecter
And ANYTHING by Kim Paffenroth - And I mean ANYTHING !!!!!

Can't wait for the ANGELS AND DEMONS movie to come out - I just hope it keeps to the book.

Good Luck To Ya !!!!!!

Thanks Surfer. :) Hope you enjoy BONE FACTORY in July--and PRIME, too, if you like Science Fiction. I'm really proud of that one. That's coming from Apex Books in July as well.
Tim's a fantastic writer. Brian too--you've got good taste! :)
Hey Tony,

Thanks, brother! I appreciate it. And just an FYI--I've been writing a free serialized sequel to The Conqueror Worms on my website, if you're interested. (Not spamming---just figured I'd mention it since you liked the original).
Hi Surfer--a belated thanks for your kind words. :) Very glad you found me on here--I'm pretty new, but I need to dive into all that Library Thing has to offer. Seems like a great site.
Hey, Tony
I got a bunch of 'em - Will be back at my place later today and I'll draw up a list of my favorites and send it over to you.

Hey There - Ketchum is Fantastic - Read most of his stuff - Got "Swiss Family Robinson" in my library also - 1941 edition. I got alot of old stuff - Like to collect them. But, mostly into the Horror genre. Good to hear from you.
No problem at all. I am looking forward to going through your library as well and hunt down some unknown authors. I hope you like Joe Schreiber. He has this talent to expertly mix up various genres, but his ultimate signature, is the pacing. I don't think I would really consider him an horror author, but there are certainly horror elements in his stories. Let me know what you think.
Thanks, Surfer! I appreciate it. :>)
SO glad The Other is back in print. Now I want Harvest Home. Never satisfied!
My favorite is the one with the dogs. I like him less since he got religion, do you remember the title of the book in which computers lash out with tentacles and suck up people's brains? mjscott
Haunting of Hill House is amazing, but I think We Have Always Lived in the Castle is even better. The characters live in a world entirely of their making, and to get the story through the eyes of Mericat, who is the queen of unrelilable narrators, is a treat.

You might like to play along. Would love for you to join us.

I agree, Salem's Lot and The Stand are my favorites. I was just thinking of Salem's lot the other day, was there a town with a coal fire burning underneath it in that book? May be hallucinating. Enjoyed most of Koontz until the book in which the angel showed up out of nowhere at the end. Read the first Odd Thomas and I did enjoy it. I'm always looking for horror books that aren't all about the torture and gore, more supernatural or psychological thrillers. Any suggestions? mjscott P.S. Something Wicked This Way Comes is my favorite Halloween book.
Nice review of The Rising. I tried reading that one a while ago and just didn't 'get' it. I will try it again eventually though.

I have picked up Brian Keene's other books since he is so highly praised.
Thanks for the add, Tony. Nice to meet you. I hope you're not disappointed. Thanks for giving my book a try. I'm a mystery fan myself.

Yes, the demise of the local bookstore in America is a bit sad, but people must have their frappuccinos!
Astoria is very nice, and rent controlled is even better!
That's cool. I have a good friend who just moved from Queens to Manhattan (Washington Heights). Great place to live-if you can afford it!
Done! Just out of curiousity, which part of NYC do you live in?
Excellent book collection, Silver Surfer! You and I have a lot of book in common, though I've just discovered this site and am still in the process of listing mine. Nice handle, too. Norrin Radd is one of my favorite comic book characters.
Yeah, living in Texas is (to be blunt) pretty crummy. I miss California a lot. But, land is cheap and we live two people in a five bedroom house, so I have my library. Of course, with 1,400 books the library is full, along with the book cases in the den and the ones in the computer room.

I keep saying "I have so many books, I'll stop buying." But there's always great new stuff that I have to have!

(Sorry so many messages. I'm talkative today I guess...)
Silver,

Thanks, man. I'll check out your recommendations.

Hey, I saw you added Chrome to your library. That got me wondering, what percentage of your books do you actually own?

I don't know why I'm weird about it, but I only add books that I actually, currently have in my possession. I have a whole bunch of books I'd like to rate, but I can't since I don't own 'em:( It's strange, I know.

I used to have a slew of those Bad Boy erotic novels that would be fun to have in my library. Sadly they were lost in a move way back when. Maybe I can add them when collections rolls out.
Hey, glad I can help. My knowledge of useless trivia knows few bounds.

Actually I looked into Chrome in the past, when I was looking for a gay novel to read. That's why I already knew about that book. (I didn't know they were robots though. Guess that's why it's called Chrome, huh?) I was looking through your collection and checking your ratings to see what might catch my eye. Have you read the novel The Filly by fellow LTer Mark R. Probst? It sounds interesting, though I haven't picked it up yet myself.
Is 'Chrome' a gay sci-fi book? If so, that came up before in a discussion somewhere and I don't believe it's Marion Zimmer Bradley.

The one I'm thinking of is 'Chrome' by George Nadar (HC ISBN 0399121250; SC ISBN 1555836062). http://www.librarything.com/work/137345

If that's the one, it sounded pretty interesting, but used copies aren't cheap.

If I have the wrong book let me know and I'll try again.
Hey Silver,

I noticed you have the tag 'Tom Savage' on T.J. Phillip's 'Woman in the Dark'. Amazon is also linking their names together. Do you know if T.J. Phillips is a pen name for Tom Savage? If so, I'll link the authors together.
I noticed your name kept popping up in Connection News and I liked the books I saw. Very nice library.
silversurfer,

Thanks for the invite. It does seem like we share quite a few books in the horror genre.

daddygoth
Hi, Tony.
Thanks for friending me.

At first, I looked at your tags, saw only 3 sci-fi and 4 fantasy out of over 1,200 books and thought "Hmm, we don't have much in common." Then I looked at the Shared Books and saw 257 and thought "Wow!" LOL.

Just noticed: Man, you got those 1,200 books added to LT since July 29th--one week ago?? How did you manage that?? I've been a member over a year and a half and have only added 1,600 so far!

John
You have a cool library. Check my little one out. We have alot in common Silver Surfer.
