About meIt's just been pointed out to me that I haven't updated my profile in a rather long time, so here's for a refreshing change...See that dog over there...? That's Jan (pronounced Yan). Technically he belongs to my parents, not me, but since I'm in no position to have a dog of my own yet, I like to call him mine. I love this site, and spend the majority of my time here with the wonderful people of the Hogwarts Express - some of whom I have now been priveledged to meet in real life. In my "spare time" I perform with a sketch comedy group around London, which is hard work, but lots of fun.

About my libraryMuch of my book buying is on a whim. My library isn't huge yet, but is steadily expanding. I'm not sure I really have a favourite genre, but I do enjoy historical fiction. A large number of my catalogued books are drama related, due to my degree. Other than that, I buy what interests me at any given time!

Naomi,
You are very welcome, I am glad you enjoyed the gifts! I hope you and your family also have a very merry Christmas and New Year!
PollyAnna
Thank you - you too!
Just took a quick look at your profile to see where you come from (because I'm getting the feeling Little Donkey isn't known in the US) and just had to say your Jan is gorgeous!
Thanks! Donna tells me i'm special too...hmmmmm.
It was only available to US users, which was one of the reasons I thought I'd send it to you. When it gets here I'll read and review it ASAP and then ship it out to you!
Hey Naomi,
Whoa what were you doing in Vietnam? That sounds so interesting. Please do spill. I am so jealous.

I am very well, thanks for asking. New York is good and running on Christmas mood already. Many stores have broken out the Xmas decor and I feel like the holidays are always around the corner. I was in your neck of the woods(The UK) in August for two weeks. I hope to be back there next August. I really liked London and the subway(tube) was so CLEAN. In New York, the subways are efficient but clean is not a word often associated with them.

Take care of yourself over there and I hope to hear from you soon.

Good to hear the poochie is doing well. He is so beautiful. When I imagine owning a dog, he is what I picture.

Alrighty, take care. Talk to you soon.

Trish.
Hi there,
I thought of you and your beautiful pooch and just wanted to stop by and say hello. So "hi". Hope you are well.

Trish.
I shall await my orangutan. Please put holes and bananas in the box.
I forgot to ask. How was Waiting for Godot? Tremendous? How was the trip planning coming and your recent gigs? Did I see on facebook you went to the Fringe Festival?
OMG! That would be absolutely fab! Are you sure? It makes me feel sooo guilty I've had something for you sitting on my shelf for about two months ARRRG! must send it soon! omg I must wizz but thank you so much for thinking of me! HUG! Tell me how preparations are going for Borneo!! I'm totally jelous! give Ghaz, Sarah and Rachel a hug from me!
Hi, LadyN! How are you? Goodness that is a lot of time you work. I know you have your trip coming up, though. I hope you are getting enough rest! Take care and I hope have a good weekend! :)
No problem. Of course you should go to your friends "hen night"? That's fun, I haven't heard that one. Anyway. We are good for the 16th as well if that works out for you but are only available that weekend. The first weekend we're there is all Family time and time adjustments then we fly out on Saturday morning the 22nd. If we can't meet up that'll definately suck, but I wouldn't worry about it too much, My husband and I love it over there and plan to cross the ocean as often as possible. Not to mention our hope of someday living over there...fingerscrossed. Let me know what you can do!

Mandy
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Don't forget to take a look at the discussion thread too!

Hi,

I won't argue with you. :-) Looks like the same coloring as Jan. Probably at about the same age. And I recognize Jan's expression.
Hi again LadyN,

You & Jan inspired me. :-) I uploaded a pic of my baby.
MsD says that are cheapening the gesture by offering her filthy lucre. For shame.

Seriously, she really isn't selling them yet, and she does need honest feedback on the scents and the packaging. It's very sweet of you to offer, though.

also... OUR GODDAMN PLACE IS FILLING UP WITH CANDLES! HELP! I'M STARTING TO HAVE NIGHTMARES ABOUT BEING BURIED IN A CANDLE LANDSLIDE! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, TAKE THE CANDLES! TAKE THE CANDLES! TAKE THE CANDLES!
That was fast!
Thanks. You look like you both had a lot of fun!
Any chance of a link to the pictures in Flicker? My search skills are rubbish. Thanks.
No problem! I'm glad you're enjoying it. Now, knowing that you're not as big a dork as I am, I wonder if you're aware of the contest being held by Jordan Knight on nkotb.com for Europeans to win a trip to their Chicago show....
Dude, if you can believe it, I'm stil in NY. I changed my mind and I'm not comming any more....
No I'm totally kidding I've been sitting on the plane for more than two hours. My butt hurst I'm hungry and I had hoped that by noe I would be good and drunk. Sigh. Soooooooo I won't be there at 630 ,ymore booooohoooo I'm sad
Squee! I hope you are having a splendid time. Give suge a big hug for me. I hope the venue comes through for your sketch group. I imagine in London that might be difficult to find. Keep me posted on any of your other theatrical doings.

I can't wait to see what adventures you both have.

M
I know you don't often post in the Green Dragon but you are a member, and the Suge/You/London thread reminded me to make sure you'd seen this thread for the GD 3rd birthday meet. It was very cool last year, we did lots of book buying thanks to Grammath's tour.
But I like being dragged around!! And I am seriously in doubt that there is anything in England thatI would not find absolutely mezmerizingly FASCINATING!! to my ever-lasting shame I bought a London guide book and I've been pouring over it and worse of all I've taken to highlighting and flagging things. I have an idea of all the places I want to go, but what I really want is to expericence London to the max I want to see the real London, not just the touristy stuff. Nothing would be cooler than to just chill out at local hangouts, sample food at the places you usually go to... EEEEEEEE I can't wait!!!! Primarni!! I can't wait!! its on my top ten places to go list, you know!

I can't wait!! Oh, the (squiggly L)260 is not all the money I have. I'm a card swiping fool so I was planning to just use my credit card the whole way and just use my $450 fortune as loose money. I didnt save as much money as I would have liked, not by a long reach, but I think I'll have enough to have a good time. maybe. we'll see.

by the way, the paynes and I were in tears yesterday when I went to visit and told them about the tootsie roll thing. But its so cool that our cultures are completely different and we can learn from each other, like i'd never heard of a flake before, and they are fabulous! The funny part is that tootsie rolls are so common here! kids get them a lot for halloween, so they are pretty much take for granted.. he he he.

OMG I fly tomorrow!!! Can you believe it!!! We'll see each other in just over 24 fake hours!!!
YAY! YAY! YAY! AT LAST YOU TELL ME!!! WHOOOO HOOO!! THANK YOU!! See, you could have save me months of pulling my hair out. See? I could have had more room in my luggage if I didn't have to tote around cans of spray on hair for my bald spots. Tootsie Rolls!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I would have never believed it. I guess I can bring you a pack or two.

He he he Annie is hilarious. I can't wait to see them either. he he he Annie.... she's sooo funny. Dont any of you get excited tho, I'm not really bringing anything fancy. I wish I was.... but I am a girl of limited means.

I went and got some of your Monopoly money ahem I mean pounds, and I was totally depressed because I exchanged 450 (just to have some cash on hand) and I only got 260 in return!!!! What kind of thievery is that?? What are you people doing over there??? Why??? Where did all my money go???!!

But I'm pretty excited. And now that I have the pounds I guess I'm committed to go, otherwise I'll just have all this money sitting around.
Oh, THANK YOU! That is so nice of you!

Ummmm do you think Ghaz and Annie like rum? I think I only saw them drinking gin and tonics (eck) (wait did I say that out loud?). And is there anything else you might like me to bring? umm is there some american delicasy that brits go nuts over? One that I know nothing about? It seems like such a waste that I'm coming over and all I'm bringing is..... ha hahaha nice try! I'll never tell!
HAHAHAHA I just saw your message.

Ok, since I know what a draggggggg it is to clean, and cleaning kitchens is an especially large bullet wound, for that reason alone.... I wont cancel my flight.
Now that I am a little more calm, and my mondo freakout is only below the surface, what do you think about oyster cards ? rip off or worth the money?

I've been looking at this site "London on a budget" and it all sounds fab. I can't wait!! really even if I never get on that plane, I'll never forget how cool you are and how kind and generous you have been.

But I am having a panic attack right now.
I'm canceling my flight and checking in to a safehouse for the panic stricken.
I can't believe it!!! Where did the time go??? OMG where did all the time go??? I'm freaking out *runs around flapping her arms* what will I do?? what will I do?? omg omg omg I cant do it. I cant do it!!!!! all those strangers.... and hegs. I cant face them...... OK I'M OFFICIALLY FREAKING OUT.
Thanks so much Naomi, it has been exciting to work on a such a good show and to get good press.

I am sure you will have the chance to do straight theater again sometimes those things just pop up? Do you have any gigs coming up?

When is suge visiting I want the photo essay of your visit together.

Maren
Wait thats not right. Its called Marmalite isn't it?
He he I'm very non picky. I love to try new things so anything you have in your cupboards will be grand. Seriously. Anything BUT parmalite, that is.
Dude, dont go crazy. We are not going to have time to eat!!! WE'RE GONNA PARTAY!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!

HA HA HA
Oh, its not a lot of money. You completely hooked me up when you came! We don't have luscious chocolate or things here (that I know of) that I can bring to drive you insane (I still dream of Flakes).... and I truely have no idea what you would like, Im told my taste is kind of out there so I would not force that on you.

WEEEEEEEEEE! My own room!!! excellent!! But I honestly would be estatic to sleep on your floor too!! I'm absolutely cetain that we will have a blast!! You are fabulous so stop your fretting. Or wait, maybe you'll regret having me over!! Now I'm fretting!

OMG I can't wait to see you!!! And the HEG's OMG the HEG's (and I don't care what you say!! HEGS exist. The truth is out there!!!)EEEEEE
*squealing and happy dancing* I read your good news!! It's so outstanding! I think this calls for a reread of Chamber of Secrets. Congratulations! :)
*hugs* We love you. Good luck tomorrow!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! 4.5 weeks!!!!!!
Yea, that should be fine, we really have no set plans as of yet, so I just wanted to see when I'd be able to meet with you! Probably August 15, 16ish. I'll let you know more when I do!
HI!

What days can you travel? Weekends or Weekdays?
Wow! I can't believe it got there that fast, especially since I told them to give me the cheapest shipping possible! I'm so glad it arrived and you'll be able to start on it right away. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of it!

And really it was no trouble at all, I got a free finished copy from the publisher, so it only made sense to send it to someone, especially someone who showed and interest and might have a slightly harder time getting a hold of it!

As to the question you asked about what you can do for me, I really can't think of anything right now. Let's just say, that someday when I can scrape together enough money to get to England, I'll want you to spend some time with me. :)
Hi, LadyN!

Oh, no! I am sorry about your back! :( Thank goodness you still have pain killers. I hope they help at least a little bit. *careful hugs* Don't feel you can't complain! The worst for my back was when I had my surgery twelve years ago. I am alive, often fine, and that's a lot more than I could say without the surgery.

I hope your being busy was good busy and not reasons that are bad. I wonder if your being busy has anything to do with your back spasms. I'm very glad the week will be calmer so you may slow down and relax a bit more! We will miss you on LT but don't get your back hurt worse for trying to talk to us! We will be thinking of you and see you properly when you are well.

Things are okay with me, per say. It's my family out of state that aren't doing well. My grandmother has been very sick from cancer. She isn't expected to live more than another year and a half. She is presently feeling better and just left for a trip. On top of my father's pre-existing health condition (diabetes and bad nutrition) I think her state pushed him over the edge. He had a heart attack last week. I only just found out and got to talk to him this morning for a good while. He's resting at home now and taking a lot of meds.

Do get better and we will see you on LT when we may. I will give your love to everyone. *more careful hugs*
How are you, LadyN? I was just thinking about you and wondering how you are.
I put the book in the mail today, just thought I'd let you know!
Awww...I am so sorry to hear that my future dog is not feeling his best. The poor baby. How exactly does a dog get such an ailment? I am shocked by the illnesses that I have heard that dogs can get. Someone just told me yesterday that their dog had diabetes. I never realized a dog could get such an illness. Gosh the poor dears. Well tell him to get better and I am coming to steal him out your backyard. Unfortunately, I map quested your house and part of the directions involves me swimming across the Atlantic Ocean(or was its Pacific ocean? Who knows with these oceans). So tell him I am working on it and will probably get there sometime next Fall.

How are you otherwise? I totally understand about the feeling overworked thing. Like you, things are going to slow down soon so I am not too bummed.

Read anything great of late?

Take care.
Patricia
YAY!
Just a coincidence. We're heading out there to spread my husband's grandparents ashes. His mom and almost all her 9 siblings were born in scotland and they want to spread the ashes at their old home. So that whole ceremonty is on the 11th (their wedding anniversary) So for the first week we've got family time, then we're on our own to explore! We think we'll head south at some point not sure we'll be able to make it to London and I'm not sure how far your willing to travel, but I figure I should tell you since i'll be closer to you than usual! I'll keep you posted.
Hi LadyN!

My husband and I are traveling to Scotland in August for 2 weeks and while the first week is all planned out we are going to do a "fly by the seat of our pants" trip for the last week. So we're not sure where we'll be exactly but I wanted to give you a heads up in case we can meet up. I'll let you know when we know more about it. We'll be there from Aug. 8-21.
Hi, LadyN! How is your busy week going?

I thought of you the other day when I came across a dvd to the very tv series you brought up after I mentioned a book to you with the same title. Lost in Austen! I want to say again thank you very much for mentioning it. It looks really interesting and I am going to get it when it's released here next month. :)
Hi LadyN I also have the Nintendo DS 100 Classic books and I think it's awesome and very comfortable to carry the Ds than carrying the 100 books, and I just wanted to mention to you that you can also download some other books, all you need is a wi-fi connection and you can download them to your Ds...I love it!

Ronald
Hey,
Just wanted to say hi. We have not spoken this year so Happy New Year as well. I hope the end of last year was good for you.

Howz that pooch of yours? Send my love.

Trish.
It is actually better to not necessarily want the job I think. It makes it easier and it sounds like you have a lot of other good things going as well. Let me know how the new material works and I want to hear all about Suge's visit. I am jealous. I still want to come back!

hugs, M
Ooh what happened with the other possible job? Any good gigs lately? How are you? Ooh and did you and Suge get to meet? Maren
That music to me ears, love. like devine heaven, Thanks! mua!
Oh, and did I mention:

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!...
OMG!! We are totally psychic with each other! I was going to write you this weekend say the same thing!! But I knew you would be doing fabulous London things and wouldn't have time for silly americans.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

PS what part of London are we going to be in? I want to put everything into perspective.
Me, too! I know suge is strongly anti camera but we will love to see pictures and hear so much of the stories you guys will have. Thank you very much! I am hating the Atlantic for it adding to the cost of visiting. If you ever find yourself taking a trip to the US again, LG, laia and I would love to meet you! Or goodness, if you went to another state I would so try to be there at the same time! I love all of you and there is nothing like meeting HEer friends, the best kind of people. It's one of the very best things I have ever done, and most certainly the very most exciting.

*hugs*
I am so having a happy dance for you!! :)
I've never heard anyone describe a weekend as deliciously relaxed so it must be a very good weekend. :) Cheers to you for planning exercise on weekends! I think most people don't count those days. One of my sisters skips Fridays as well.

I never even thought about having to decide where to get a tattoo since I have never even seen any designs I would want for one myself. kik.

My ears are mostly painless. I'm still dizzy on and off and sometimes have a headache but it's not been nearly so bad as the first night. I'm quite thankful for that! I have been procrastinating with the ear drops. I'm horrible at getting them in my ear myself because I always seem to miss. I have someone to help me tomorrow and the day after, though, so that's good.
Hi, LadyN! I hope you're having a great weekend!

Do you have a printed out copy of the design you like of a phoenix for a tatto? I don't have any tattoos and don't know much about getting them, but some places in the US accept pieces of paper with the design of what people want for a tattoo and make it from that. Someone once asked me to draw a butterfly for them from the design on a ring they had for that reason. Good luck! A phoenix tattoo sounds very cool!
Hi LadyN just came over here to wish you a Happy New Year and may 2009 be better, and fuller of blessings, love and most importantly books for you and your loved ones!!
LadyN we sent you a Christmas card! I hope it gets to you in time. If not, consider us early for next year. :o)
I'm sorry the outlook for the first ER book doesn't look good. I am glad Abby feels your second one will turn out positive, though!

I did wonder if either of them were books not available to the UK but agree. If they listed them as avaailable to the UK then the UK deserves them. I only wish more of the books had a wider selection of countries they are available to! That, and of course that your books arrive safely and timely.

I hope the charity gig is very successful!

*hugs*

K
Hi, LadyN! How are you?

I have still been thinking about how your Early Reviewer books haven't arrived. Funny enough, I was just about to recommend a thread to you that I have in another tab called 'Books Not Received?' but just found a post by you in it. Have you e-mailed Abby? I really hope they arrive! Lots of luck your way! *hug*
Hey,
Just wanted to say hi and see how my friend the pooch is doing. This is how I make up for not having a dog, I live vicariously through other people's dogs.

By the way I was over at you house recently and after eating my pork chop, your darling dog was more than willing to come home with me if I carried him all the way home. I tried to get him to see that he is a big dog and carrying him on my back was just not practical. He obviously disagreed :)

Anyways just saying hi.
Trish
Hey Naomi,
I am headed over to your parents house with a gigantic bone, some pork chops and a squeaky toy to charm your dog home with me. The problem will arise when he decides not to swim back home to New York with me.

So funny that we are having this conversation about your dog cause I just watched a documentary last night about dogs. It traces the history of how dogs evolved from foxes in about a ten year pan. It is believed that the tamer foxes self selected for other tame foxes and chose to mate with them and over time they became what we know as dogs today. A ten year evolutionary period is of course very short in the grand scheme of life and so the dog is considered quite unique in this aspect. Okay let me stop babbling.

Anyway, all in all I think your doggie is gorgeous. Nice talking to you.

Trish
AHHHHH!
AHHHHH!
Oh my God!!!!! Can I have your dog?!?! What a beautiful animal! I LOVE dogs and the German Shepherd/Alsatian is one of my favorites.
No problem!! It was our pleasure... =D
I must say the same of you and others in our group. I love all of you guys! We have a wonderful group of exceptionally kind people. :)

You're welcome for the suggestions and clickable birthday gifts. What did you think of the spider repellent? ;)

I'm so sorry your back is so bad! I feel awful. This might be a dumb question...Is hosptial for where you are the same as hospital in the US? I hope so much that it will feel better soon! Hope your HEG can cover work for you! I am very glad the pain killer is working and allowing you some peace and comfort.

I'm doing good and am safe. There hasn't been any more mention of trouble in the neighborhood but just in case I wrote my boss a letter making it even more official that I cannot work late a couple nights of the week. I used to be terrified of walking at night but am no longer so long as the kidnapper(s) stays clear away. Walking home to an emtpy house at night, though...It's probably not the best of ideas.

Thank you about my kid sister. It's very much appreciated and very nice! I agree we all need personal days off sometimes. I'm glad my sister has so many people she can go to with having a mother and three older sisters. Thankfully, she had a wonderful day the next day, made up with a friend, and our mother took her out during school hours to spend a little time together. I can offer my sister comfort, but sometimes she really needs her mom.

I very much hope you are still feeling better from the painkiller and are free from working right now so you may relax and rest. Hope you are sleeping! Get well soon! *hugs*
Hooray! I am glad your gig went well. I take it the new material worked. I am so pleased. I hope your back is feeling better soon. Maren
Hi, LadyN!

I'm very glad you had a good birthday but am sorry about your back! I've hurt mine all my life (scoliosis) so I've learned a few things that make it more bearable to helping it heal faster. I hope some of these work for you!

One thing to consider right now is how you sleep. I've no idea if you have the right kind of mattress so you wake up feeling better already, but as someone who doesn't, I've taken to considering this: If your neck hurts at all right now, you should which type of pillow you use and how you sleep. I can't say how much that's helped me this past week! (I pulled my back last Thursday.) If you sleep on back, you should have a medium thickness pillow. Side sleepers should have a thick pillow. Those who sleep on their stomachs need a flat pillow. What all of this does is removes pressure from your spine etc when you sleep. Also, if one of your shoulders hurts and you sleep on your side, sleeping on the other side will help it get better much faster. Trust me!

Depending on how bad your back is hurt, if it's daytime and you struggle to move from chairs when sitting, it's good to sit with a pillow behind you. It can allow you to relax a little more when you may feel like you can't. Aspricream also helps your back.

If you can't find a HEG as jp's suggestion, heating pads can help, too. Some of them are reusable and often have lavender inside them while others are single use and heat up at a press on the heating pad. From my own experience a hot shower on your back muscles will give faster relief from your pain.

I hope you feel better soon! *hugs*
Hello Naomi!

We are safely returned and only slightly discombobulated by the time zones. It was so kind of you to take a whole day with us. We really enjoyed walking all over London and importantly getting to meet you. I hope you had fun as well and not too disappointed about the Dungeon tour. We'd love to return the favor if you are ever in Chicago! When I get my pictures uploaded I will have to send you some.

Ooh let me know if you like The End of Mr. Y I have considered getting it.

Maren
Um, your profile says you just turned 28...What happened? ;)

Happy birthday early! I hope you enjoy it greatly! :)
You're welcome!

I'm so happy you guys had such a good time! As for the walking, I guess it comes with meeting LTers. We all walk so much then! ;) I'm glad you guys remembered a picture. That was so cool that you guys could meet!

Suge talked about visiting you the last time I spoke to her and is still really excited. She can't wait! For me, it will depend. I want to meet you very much, but we will see. It depends on if I can find a second job during seasonal time coming soon, which is the plan. I hope I can meet you!

My sister still needs to go to a second doctor to find out what exactly is happening during her episodes. I'm hoping they are merely panic attacks. She had them even when she was very little, but there was such a long break of them not happening. Too much scary stuff happening when she was little, maybe. There was an ugly divorce, to put it mildly.
Congrats about your good news, LadyN! I hope you and Mar had a great time on Sunday! Did you guys take any pictures?
I wouldn't worry about the July book yet - some books really do take over 2 months to show up. And we give you a few months leeway from when most of the books come in - so lack of review won't hurt you.

Abby
Oh that all sounds wonderful. If we need to revise any part that day we can but it sounds good to us. When we pick up a phone we may call you sometime that week just so you have another number for us as well. We can't wait to see you. Maren
Sorry to just reply now. I have been a bit crazed as my sister and brother-in-law and 6 year old niece have been staying with us the past four days.

We are fine just taking a tour and then finding other mischief so as not to stand through a longish play. You are not pushing to hard at all. We feel fortunate to have a wise local to help us make a plan. There are so many things we could do in London and we can never do them all and it is so much better to do them with a friend.
Nai,

Because of our move Rom and I have been slow about planning our trip but we now know the dates we'll be in London. September 13th and 14th and then we'll fly out of Heathrow on the 15th. We'd love to see you sometime in there if it is convenient for you. I thought I should tell you now that I know so we can devise a plan.

Hoping to see you quite soon now, Maren
Hi, LadyN! How are you? I just read that you haven't gotten your Early Reviewer book yet either. I'm laughing at myself right now for racing to the window near our mail box when I see the mailman with a package or when the UPS truck drives by. Do you have similiar stories? I hope you get your book soon! Good luck with the August batch of books!
~K
Hey boo! How have you been? It has been AGES! I haven't been around much myself, so I can't talk, but: YOU CAN'T JUST DISAPEAR LIKE THAT!!!

Anyhoo, how have things been going with the commedy group? I know you were really excited the last time that we spoke a few milenia ago.

How are things at work? Say hi to the girls for me, tho they probably don't remember me. Specially Annie whom I never did get see sober.

You should knock back a few blacks for me at the Ness (what was the name of that pub?). lol I have to catch up on about a thousand threads my self....

See ya! Take care, love.
Thanks LadyN I will let her know. Right now she is being Mary, which means that she is keeping things inside. She won't let me hug her or anything. She is angry and upset, of course, but one little bright spot is that she said she and Rob will try again in a few months. I think thats very brave of her. I am very sad and will take apart the crocheted blanket I was making since she has seen it and is superstitious enough to believe that it would be bad luck for another baby. Hopefully I will be working on a different one very soon. thank you again. Polly
