About meIt's just been pointed out to me that I haven't updated my profile in a rather long time, so here's for a refreshing change...See that dog over there...? That's Jan (pronounced Yan). Technically he belongs to my parents, not me, but since I'm in no position to have a dog of my own yet, I like to call him mine. I love this site, and spend the majority of my time here with the wonderful people of the Hogwarts Express - some of whom I have now been priveledged to meet in real life. In my "spare time" I perform with a sketch comedy group around London, which is hard work, but lots of fun.
About my libraryMuch of my book buying is on a whim. My library isn't huge yet, but is steadily expanding. I'm not sure I really have a favourite genre, but I do enjoy historical fiction. A large number of my catalogued books are drama related, due to my degree. Other than that, I buy what interests me at any given time!

Whoa what were you doing in Vietnam? That sounds so interesting. Please do spill. I am so jealous.
I am very well, thanks for asking. New York is good and running on Christmas mood already. Many stores have broken out the Xmas decor and I feel like the holidays are always around the corner. I was in your neck of the woods(The UK) in August for two weeks. I hope to be back there next August. I really liked London and the subway(tube) was so CLEAN. In New York, the subways are efficient but clean is not a word often associated with them.
Take care of yourself over there and I hope to hear from you soon.
Good to hear the poochie is doing well. He is so beautiful. When I imagine owning a dog, he is what I picture.
Alrighty, take care. Talk to you soon.
Trish.

I can't wait!! Oh, the (squiggly L)260 is not all the money I have. I'm a card swiping fool so I was planning to just use my credit card the whole way and just use my $450 fortune as loose money. I didnt save as much money as I would have liked, not by a long reach, but I think I'll have enough to have a good time. maybe. we'll see.
by the way, the paynes and I were in tears yesterday when I went to visit and told them about the tootsie roll thing. But its so cool that our cultures are completely different and we can learn from each other, like i'd never heard of a flake before, and they are fabulous! The funny part is that tootsie rolls are so common here! kids get them a lot for halloween, so they are pretty much take for granted.. he he he.
OMG I fly tomorrow!!! Can you believe it!!! We'll see each other in just over 24 fake hours!!!

He he he Annie is hilarious. I can't wait to see them either. he he he Annie.... she's sooo funny. Dont any of you get excited tho, I'm not really bringing anything fancy. I wish I was.... but I am a girl of limited means.
I went and got some of your Monopoly money ahem I mean pounds, and I was totally depressed because I exchanged 450 (just to have some cash on hand) and I only got 260 in return!!!! What kind of thievery is that?? What are you people doing over there??? Why??? Where did all my money go???!!
But I'm pretty excited. And now that I have the pounds I guess I'm committed to go, otherwise I'll just have all this money sitting around.

Ummmm do you think Ghaz and Annie like rum? I think I only saw them drinking gin and tonics (eck) (wait did I say that out loud?). And is there anything else you might like me to bring? umm is there some american delicasy that brits go nuts over? One that I know nothing about? It seems like such a waste that I'm coming over and all I'm bringing is..... ha hahaha nice try! I'll never tell!

As to the question you asked about what you can do for me, I really can't think of anything right now. Let's just say, that someday when I can scrape together enough money to get to England, I'll want you to spend some time with me. :)

Oh, no! I am sorry about your back! :( Thank goodness you still have pain killers. I hope they help at least a little bit. *careful hugs* Don't feel you can't complain! The worst for my back was when I had my surgery twelve years ago. I am alive, often fine, and that's a lot more than I could say without the surgery.
I hope your being busy was good busy and not reasons that are bad. I wonder if your being busy has anything to do with your back spasms. I'm very glad the week will be calmer so you may slow down and relax a bit more! We will miss you on LT but don't get your back hurt worse for trying to talk to us! We will be thinking of you and see you properly when you are well.
Things are okay with me, per say. It's my family out of state that aren't doing well. My grandmother has been very sick from cancer. She isn't expected to live more than another year and a half. She is presently feeling better and just left for a trip. On top of my father's pre-existing health condition (diabetes and bad nutrition) I think her state pushed him over the edge. He had a heart attack last week. I only just found out and got to talk to him this morning for a good while. He's resting at home now and taking a lot of meds.
Do get better and we will see you on LT when we may. I will give your love to everyone. *more careful hugs*

I never even thought about having to decide where to get a tattoo since I have never even seen any designs I would want for one myself. kik.
My ears are mostly painless. I'm still dizzy on and off and sometimes have a headache but it's not been nearly so bad as the first night. I'm quite thankful for that! I have been procrastinating with the ear drops. I'm horrible at getting them in my ear myself because I always seem to miss. I have someone to help me tomorrow and the day after, though, so that's good.

Do you have a printed out copy of the design you like of a phoenix for a tatto? I don't have any tattoos and don't know much about getting them, but some places in the US accept pieces of paper with the design of what people want for a tattoo and make it from that. Someone once asked me to draw a butterfly for them from the design on a ring they had for that reason. Good luck! A phoenix tattoo sounds very cool!

I did wonder if either of them were books not available to the UK but agree. If they listed them as avaailable to the UK then the UK deserves them. I only wish more of the books had a wider selection of countries they are available to! That, and of course that your books arrive safely and timely.
I hope the charity gig is very successful!

Just wanted to say hi and see how my friend the pooch is doing. This is how I make up for not having a dog, I live vicariously through other people's dogs.
By the way I was over at you house recently and after eating my pork chop, your darling dog was more than willing to come home with me if I carried him all the way home. I tried to get him to see that he is a big dog and carrying him on my back was just not practical. He obviously disagreed :)
Anyways just saying hi.

I am headed over to your parents house with a gigantic bone, some pork chops and a squeaky toy to charm your dog home with me. The problem will arise when he decides not to swim back home to New York with me.
So funny that we are having this conversation about your dog cause I just watched a documentary last night about dogs. It traces the history of how dogs evolved from foxes in about a ten year pan. It is believed that the tamer foxes self selected for other tame foxes and chose to mate with them and over time they became what we know as dogs today. A ten year evolutionary period is of course very short in the grand scheme of life and so the dog is considered quite unique in this aspect. Okay let me stop babbling.
Anyway, all in all I think your doggie is gorgeous. Nice talking to you.

You're welcome for the suggestions and clickable birthday gifts. What did you think of the spider repellent? ;)
I'm so sorry your back is so bad! I feel awful. This might be a dumb question...Is hosptial for where you are the same as hospital in the US? I hope so much that it will feel better soon! Hope your HEG can cover work for you! I am very glad the pain killer is working and allowing you some peace and comfort.
I'm doing good and am safe. There hasn't been any more mention of trouble in the neighborhood but just in case I wrote my boss a letter making it even more official that I cannot work late a couple nights of the week. I used to be terrified of walking at night but am no longer so long as the kidnapper(s) stays clear away. Walking home to an emtpy house at night, though...It's probably not the best of ideas.
Thank you about my kid sister. It's very much appreciated and very nice! I agree we all need personal days off sometimes. I'm glad my sister has so many people she can go to with having a mother and three older sisters. Thankfully, she had a wonderful day the next day, made up with a friend, and our mother took her out during school hours to spend a little time together. I can offer my sister comfort, but sometimes she really needs her mom.
I very much hope you are still feeling better from the painkiller and are free from working right now so you may relax and rest. Hope you are sleeping! Get well soon! *hugs*

I'm very glad you had a good birthday but am sorry about your back! I've hurt mine all my life (scoliosis) so I've learned a few things that make it more bearable to helping it heal faster. I hope some of these work for you!
One thing to consider right now is how you sleep. I've no idea if you have the right kind of mattress so you wake up feeling better already, but as someone who doesn't, I've taken to considering this: If your neck hurts at all right now, you should which type of pillow you use and how you sleep. I can't say how much that's helped me this past week! (I pulled my back last Thursday.) If you sleep on back, you should have a medium thickness pillow. Side sleepers should have a thick pillow. Those who sleep on their stomachs need a flat pillow. What all of this does is removes pressure from your spine etc when you sleep. Also, if one of your shoulders hurts and you sleep on your side, sleeping on the other side will help it get better much faster. Trust me!
Depending on how bad your back is hurt, if it's daytime and you struggle to move from chairs when sitting, it's good to sit with a pillow behind you. It can allow you to relax a little more when you may feel like you can't. Aspricream also helps your back.
If you can't find a HEG as jp's suggestion, heating pads can help, too. Some of them are reusable and often have lavender inside them while others are single use and heat up at a press on the heating pad. From my own experience a hot shower on your back muscles will give faster relief from your pain.
I hope you feel better soon! *hugs*

We are safely returned and only slightly discombobulated by the time zones. It was so kind of you to take a whole day with us. We really enjoyed walking all over London and importantly getting to meet you. I hope you had fun as well and not too disappointed about the Dungeon tour. We'd love to return the favor if you are ever in Chicago! When I get my pictures uploaded I will have to send you some.

I'm so happy you guys had such a good time! As for the walking, I guess it comes with meeting LTers. We all walk so much then! ;) I'm glad you guys remembered a picture. That was so cool that you guys could meet!
Suge talked about visiting you the last time I spoke to her and is still really excited. She can't wait! For me, it will depend. I want to meet you very much, but we will see. It depends on if I can find a second job during seasonal time coming soon, which is the plan. I hope I can meet you!
My sister still needs to go to a second doctor to find out what exactly is happening during her episodes. I'm hoping they are merely panic attacks. She had them even when she was very little, but there was such a long break of them not happening. Too much scary stuff happening when she was little, maybe. There was an ugly divorce, to put it mildly.
